The Setting

A residential enclave that has been quietly desirable for a century.

Ivy No. 11 stands in Cambridge’s Neighborhood Nine — the Observatory Hill and Huron Village side of the city, where the streets are narrow, the trees are old, and the houses have been handed between families rather than flipped. It is one of Greater Boston’s most supply-constrained markets, anchored by world-class institutions and a community in which more than eight in ten residents hold a bachelor’s degree or higher.

The everyday is unusually close. The Boudreau branch library is four minutes on foot and Danehy Park’s ninety acres of fields and sledding hills are six. Concord Avenue carries the rest — La Saison for the morning loaf, Sarah’s for the everyday shop, La Royal and Armando’s for dinner without a reservation.

Huron Village sits ten minutes beyond, where Formaggio Kitchen has drawn cooks across the river since 1978, and Kismet, Sumi House, and Base Crave have made the corner a destination in its own right. Tobin Montessori, Cambridge Friends, and Buckingham Browne & Nichols are all inside the same walk.

The Red Line at Porter is five minutes by car, with the commuter rail on the same platform and Davis Square a stop beyond. Route 2 begins at Alewife, the Pike and I-93 are a short run out, and both downtown Boston and Logan sit around twenty minutes away — close enough to be useful, far enough to be quiet. For the long loop, Fresh Pond’s two-and-a-half miles of shoreline path are the neighborhood’s back garden.
